Realizing that a knowledgeable membership is an asset to the institution and assessing the value of education and training in making CBOO more effective, the Executive Committee set up a formal Education & Training Wing in January 1984. It was inaugurated in Mangalore by L.V. Subramaniam, Secretary- General of the then AICOBOO. ETW was continuously engaged in organizing training programmes for the functionaries and activists in trade union management, communication and defence in disciplinary proceedings. It regularly brought out guides and manuals for the benefit of promotion aspirants and provided coaching classes for promotion. The periodical publication of the Officer’ Service Regulation is also done under this.
In July 1996, ETW was renamed as Balasubramanian Foundation for Education &Training (BFET)to perpetuate the memory of Late Sri N.Balasubramanian.
The Secretary, who is nominated by the Executive Committee, looks after BFET's work. Currently, B S Dinesha is the Secretary
As part of its non-bargaining activities, CBOO organizes Balasubramanian Memorial Lectures every year around June/July. It is to commemorate Late Sri N.Balasubramanian, former President of CBOO. More importantly through the Lectures, CBOO attempts to focus the attention on matters of relevance to trade unions like H.R.Management, I R and Bank's working, economy and banking etc. Started in 1996, the Lecture is a regular feature of CBOO's activities. Between 1996 till 2016 the following eminent persons gave lectures on relevant issues. Often the speeches or gist thereof are published in Officers' Voice.
